What I've Been Reading

I haven't posted in a while, but thought I would drop in to share a couple of new or new-to-me blogs I've been enjoying! I ran across this while browsing this morning. God is always right on time! I guess this is just something you cannot fully understand until you walk through it. When we have young children we strive to do all the right things thinking the end result will be the deserved payoff for all our efforts. As we grow through life we learn a little... Another blog I would love to share is Find and Seek , written by my very own oldest daughter! Very gifted writer who writes from her heart. She is not afraid to be exactly who God called her to be. Hope you enjoy reading! I hope to post new pictures soon of some finished projects!

Homeschool Basketball Nationals 2011

Image
We arrived in Springfield on Monday, March 14th. We will be leaving tomorrow, six days later. Homeschool Basketball Nationals is a very tiring week, but one we look forward to each year. I'm not sure how many games we attended this week. There were alot! My 14 year old daughter had 5 games. She had a great week with her friends, and made some wonderful memories! I'm exhausted and longing for my own bed and some home cooked food. Even though I'm feeling this way, next year, during spring break... I'm sure we will be back!
Have you ever met someone completely impressive? Of course we all probably have. It just seems that my idea of impressive has changed through the years. I'm sure that as a teenager I would have been thrilled with meeting a celebrity. Maybe Rick Springsteen? Lol. Maybe In my 20's I would have appreciated meeting any number of successful career minded people. That would have impressed me and given me hope for my future. As I headed into my 30's I became a fan of a few high profile homeschool speakers. I definitely would have been impressed to have personally met a few of them. Now, as I have entered my 40's, my priorities have changed. The absolute most impressive people I meet are authentic. I'm impressed with a person who is not afraid to be exactly who God made them. They know they are a forgiven sinner, covered by the blood of Jesus. Their life and their words are full of mercy and grace. They give others what God has given them. Now, that is impressive. I know a...

Home Decor

I'm working on several projects. Most of them are home decorating projects. There are lots of pillow projects, quilts/duvet covers, and curtains to sew. We have been in our new home for around six months and I am starting to feel behind. Decorating a new home, for me, takes a little time. I normally have a few ideas immediately, but some ideas come with time. I have to take time to live in my new space before knowing exactly how we will use it. One new to me idea is the 80-20 rule. According to this rule, you use 20% of your home 80% of the time. I've decided to put my focus on that 20%! I don't work fast, but plan to post some before/after pictures this year of our progress. Or maybe just the "after" pictures! In the works: >Looking for some specific pieces of furniture for the living room. >Patiently waiting on a special work of art from a favorite artist! >Throw pillows for livingroom and dining room >curtains for dining room >complete re-do in K...

The Two Men in My Life

Image
(Sharing a page from my journal) Today is the anniversary of two very significant days for me. My dad's birthday. He would have been 65 today. Probably retiring from the telephone company. My life would have probably looked much different had he not been taken. He was only 33 years old. Now that I'm approaching 42 in less than a month, I see how very young he was. I want to take a moment today though to thank God for the ten years I had with him. God used this man who was my daddy to instill some seeds within me that have taken root and continue to grow. So, thank You Lord for my Daddy, Cole Hays Jr. I miss him still, but he loved me with a love that will never die. And, the other significant day... 18 years ago, I met the love of my life. We have had some rocky years, but they are enclosed like parenthesis with a love that I never knew my life would include! He is "The Man" that God gifted me with. I'm a blessed person to have known within my life, two men who lo...
