Coffee for Breakfast

My fingers are itching to sew. With all the new babies all around me, my creative side wants to make every cute thing I see. I've managed to do a little but that is how much time I have...little. It's just one of those busy seasons in life. Not the sports season kind of busy (yet) but the season of life kind of busy. My list-making self also has a ton of homemade Christmas gift ideas that will more than likely not happen. I love the holidays but this year they will be a little different. Not a bad kind of different. Just different. We have spent almost twenty years forming our family traditions. I love the way we spend Thanksgiving. Usually, with the exception of only a couple of years, we are all together. The seven of us enjoy our traditional Thanksgiving dinner and spending the day together. I am hoping to get some pictures of my latest projects up today...later. I have finished a baby quilt and Courtney's quilt. The baby quilt was just an idea that I had. It doesn't have a "home" as of yet. It is girly and I don't know of any new girl babies. I'm sure it will find a new baby soon. Courtney's quilt is already four years old. She hand-pieced the quilt front when she was eighteen. It is several nine-patch squares. During our latest move, I found it folded in her closet as I was packing. Having only recently starting to quilt, I thought I would attempt to finish it for her. I consulted with her on the colors for the back. As usual, the artist wanted something I never would have thought of. The front is black and hot pink. What did she want for backing? Orange. One of a handful of Christmas gifts I have made for this year. This will be given to my little great niece, Reagan. I was so happy to hear how she loves to wrap her baby dolls in blankets and carry them around.

I had a very rare occurence tonight. I had the house all to myself for several hours. My husband took over basketball duty tonight. I normally can't stand missing my girls' games, but I needed to get caught up on a few things. Besides, we have overlapping tournaments this weekend (in two different states)! I don't think I'll have basketball withdrawals! ;) I don't guess I accomplished all I would have liked to tonight, but it was wonderful. The house is cozy and QUIET. Thank You Jesus for some much needed PEACE. I did manage to make a gift for Aubree. I found a cute tutorial HeRe. I will post pics of mine tomorrow. I hope to squeeze in a few more Silent Nights during the Christmas holidays. I still have several projects in the works.

We enjoyed a nice 4th of July. The kids enjoyed lots of activities and contests at the pool. Aubree even won a prize in the tug-of-war against the lifeguards. She had a blast. Later that evening we took our chairs and cooler to the balcony/roof to enjoy the fireworks. Our house is positioned where we can enjoy fireworks displays from two different towns. It was relaxing and I enjoyed it very much.
