The Doll Quilt

Projects

I have been sewing and crocheting alot lately. I love keeping my hands busy. I am currently working on a doll quilt and a crochet baby blanket. The doll quilt is almost completed. I am beginning the "quilting" part. It was alot of fun to make. I will eventually tackle a full-size quilt. I will have to work my way there though. I made alot of mistakes and wouldn't enjoy ripping out a big project. I will post photos of the finished project when I locate my camera's memory card. The crochet baby blanket is for one of my closest friends. She is expecting her 2nd child. We have been friends for almost 30 years! WOW, we are getting old! lol I am trying to improve my sewing skills before making actual clothing. I want to work on forgiving projects for now. I wouldn't ask my children to wear anything outside of our house unless it at least looked as if I knew what I were doing. So, for now I'll stick with toys and blankets.

We are expecting lots of babies in our family this year! Five family members will be having us new neices and nephews. We went to the first of the five baby showers this past weekend. I finally finished the crocheted baby blanket I have been working on. Along with this blanket I made an amigurumi bunny (to match), and a simple bib (Bend the Rules Sewing). Courtney painted the new baby a wall hanging with her initial (R) and lady bugs.
For the next two weeks our studies have us in Mexico. The girls will be making yarn art, paper flowers, and hopefully a pinata. We are reading about Cameron Townsend, the missionary. We are also learning Mexico's current events. We will wrap up our study with a fiesta. Then...on to Canada for a couple of weeks. Exploring Countries and Cultures from here is wonderful. Happy Homeschooling

Basketball season has finally come to a close for the year. Don't misunderstand! I DO Love BaSkEtBaLl!!! I don't love for my life to be consumed with basketball. I was very proud of Kaitlyn. She not only played on the Jr. High team, but was invited to also play on the High School Varsity team. She was very honored and did an awesome job on both teams. (Not bad for a 7th grader!) By the way, if your child attempts to play on two teams at the same time, it will consume practically every day of your life. Consider yourself warned!
