Change is in the Air

I'm not a person who readily accepts change. Of course, no one loves unpleasant changes. But, what about changes for the better? Wouldn't a person jump for joy at the opportunity for a change for the better? Well, I'm one of those hesitant "changers". Is it fear? Probably. On the other hand, change can also be a wonderful surprise! Within a very short time period (not enough warning!) my husband was informed of yet another location change for his job. When we moved to our current town, I was so sure this would be our last stop on the moving trail. Who doesn't want to put down roots? How are you supposed to bloom-where-you-are-planted if you don't stay still long enough for the blooming process? Is six months long enough to bloom? One year? Two years? These are the time periods we have lived in most places. After eleven homes in our seventeen years of marriage, you would think we would learn how to quickly plant ourselves, get a great root system in place,

Love & Respect

Love & Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs should be required reading for all married couples. This book is full of the simple clear truth of the Bible that is so easily overlooked or misunderstood. Anyone who has ever studied God's word in order to improve their marriage or to understand their role as husband or wife is probably very familiar with the scriptures in which this book is based. It is just amazing to me that I could quote alot of these scriptures by heart, but was not applying them. This book has been a very eye-opening experience for my husband and myself. He has listened and relistened to this book on audio cd's. I prefer the print copy and have been reading/journalling chapter by chapter. I think we tend to overcomplicate most things. God's word goes deep but usually brings us back to the simple truth. God didn't make this life too difficult to do His way. From my reading this morning: "Obviously, when the sparks fly and a couple has a conflict, se

Girls Basketball Banquet 2010

Image
The Lady Titans enjoyed a wonderful evening celebrating an awesome year of basketball. Basketball season is always very hectic, but full of memories. I love the night of the banquet. Not only because it signifies the close of the season and the hope to catch up on life, but remembering why we spend our time doing this. Throughout the season, I often wonder why! Basketball consumes too much of our lives at times. I love to watch my girls play, but it is just sooooo daily! On the other hand, devoted practice time is necessary to compete at the level they play. Another reason the banquet is so enjoyable for me is to see just how beautiful and girly these awesome athletes really are. They work so hard at practice and during games. We see them all year sweaty, red-faced, and dressed in athletic wear. They are beautiful girls always, but it's nice to see them all dressed up! We enjoyed a delicious fajita dinner, celebrated their accomplishments, and absolutley enjoyed the company.
