Christmas Sewing

This blanket is for our brand new baby nephew! I can't wait to hold him!!! Baby doll blanket and pillow, and "paper" doll pillow are for sisters, Reagan & Jasleen. Pillow trio is for my mom. The last two pillows are for nephews Triston and Owen. I finally finished sewing Christmas gifts. I have never taken on so many projects for such a short amount of time. They all need to be wrapped before making the trip home for Christmas.

A sneak peak at Courtney's quilt. Pictured below is the vintage pillowcase baby quilt. I used the seam ripper on the pillowcase and then decided it was the perfect size for a baby blanket. I picked up the lavender and red from the print for the backing and binding. I loosely followed the directions in Last-Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts for the follow-the-lines baby quilt.

Secret Weapon

Basketball season is a busy time around our house. I only have one daughter currently playing and it still consumes almost every day of the week. Sometimes we get too busy for dinner at home. Not only does this become costly, it also causes us to not have dinner together as a family way too often. One thing I have tried to do while raising kids is have sit down meals together. I think dinner time is where so many memories are made. I've had to re-think dinner time and come up with some creative solutions. One of the most used appliances around here is the Crockpot. We aren't all always home at the same time anymore, but if I plan ahead we can all have a home cooked meal. Last night we had a family favorite for a cold night. Secret Ingredient Crockpot Chili 1 1/2 lb. hamburger meat 1 large can of crushed tomatoes 1 can of Rotel tomatoes 2 cans of Ranch Style beans chili powder cumin garlic onion ***1 can of pumpkin Brown the ground beef with garlic and onion. Drain and add to c

Finished and Future Projects

I am hoping to get some pictures of my latest projects up today...later. I have finished a baby quilt and Courtney's quilt. The baby quilt was just an idea that I had. It doesn't have a "home" as of yet. It is girly and I don't know of any new girl babies. I'm sure it will find a new baby soon. Courtney's quilt is already four years old. She hand-pieced the quilt front when she was eighteen. It is several nine-patch squares. During our latest move, I found it folded in her closet as I was packing. Having only recently starting to quilt, I thought I would attempt to finish it for her. I consulted with her on the colors for the back. As usual, the artist wanted something I never would have thought of. The front is black and hot pink. What did she want for backing? Orange. I didn't doubt her, but I never would have thought of o-r-a-n-g-e! It didn't turn out to be a perfect squarish-rectangular quilt, but I love it. She, at twenty-two can now be the pr
