Coffee for Breakfast

A busy mom needs a way to unwind. For me that usually means it's time for a project. I spent the week homeschooling, driving teens to and from work, running the household (or maybe it was running me), and trying hard to complete my very ambitious to-do list. I wasn't able to check off everything on my list this week, but I've decided to be satisfied with the things I managed to accomplish. Sometimes a girl just needs to create. I spent the better part of an evening embroidering the first of three pictures that will hang in my laundry room. They were all free patterns I found online.  The above project was found on one of my  favorite sites . I'm loving it.

Well this month was quite eventful!!! •My new little very first grandbaby girl and I had a week to get acquainted! Her mommy, daddy, and her cute little self visited at my house. Just to let everyone know, she is the most perfect baby... Ever! Gorgeous! Her parents are pretty cute too.;) •My oldest daughter, Courtney, surprised us all with a wedding. Hers. We didn't even know she had a boyfriend until a few weeks ago. Again, gorgeous. She made a beautiful bride. I hope her day was everything she wanted. Twenty-three and as independent as always. I know her biggest dream of a wedding was for it to only be about her and her husband. I think that was accomplished. :) •We have found a new church home in our new hometown. Awesome presence of God! Freedom in worship, unity in spirit, and love. Sunday morning service was like a cool drink of water to quench our thirst for more and like a burning fire to ignite our hearts to follow God's call. I'm working on several projects. Most of them are home decorating projects. There are lots of pillow projects, quilts/duvet covers, and curtains to sew. We have been in our new home for around six months and I am starting to feel behind. Decorating a new home, for me, takes a little time. I normally have a few ideas immediately, but some ideas come with time. I have to take time to live in my new space before knowing exactly how we will use it. One new to me idea is the 80-20 rule. According to this rule, you use 20% of your home 80% of the time. I've decided to put my focus on that 20%! I don't work fast, but plan to post some before/after pictures this year of our progress. Or maybe just the "after" pictures! I plan to do this next week. I have a few ideas to start with. The challenge is to make seven pillows. I will try to complete one each day, but one or two of the projects may just be repairs on pillows I've already made. I made a pillow for Kaitlyn a while back that has become flat with lots of use. I need to re-stuff the insert. I have promised to make a pillow similar to this one for a friend since last summer. Courtney has requested a few more for her apartment. The only problem I foresee is narrowing my choices down to seven!

Our official school year is coming to a close. We have had such a busy year. I'm looking forward to some much needed down time. We will begin our RV adventure this week. I think the timing couldn't be better. I have been having fun planning and decorating our new little space. The bedroom is only lacking some new little curtains. I have plans to begin the bedding in the girls' little bunk bed area. The table/booth and sofa may be re-upholstered later, if I feel ambitious. I plan to keep this space very minimal but also homey. We will be spending about half of our time there. I want everyone to be able to relax and enjoy our time together. I'm looking forward to spending lots of time this summer playing games, swimming, and just loving my family.

I have finally finished my quilted wall hanging! I purposely took alot of time working on this project but I got really impatient at the end. This was the last project to finish our guest bathroom. I made some mistakes but in the end I liked it better with my mistakes. So here it is completed and hanging in my bathroom... This project is from Last-Minute Patchwork & Quilted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson. I love this book. This was my first project but I hope to work on many more.

I am finally determined to finish this project. Probably because it is the last step in redecorating the guest bathroom. I am thread basting it, then I will begin hand quilting. I decided to take a short-cut with the binding. I will fold the backing over instead of cutting strips. Partially because I am anxious to finish, but mainly because I am running short on fabric. I just finished a new pillow for Kaitlyn. She is gone to camp so I hope to surprise her by doing a little decorating in her room. This pillow is from Anna Maria Horner's book, Seams to Me. I had alot of fun with this project and will probably make a few.

Yay! My wonderful husband and I just finished recovering our dining room chairs. They turned out beautiful. Once I started this project (the dining room) I noticed lots of things I need to work on. My next project that I will start tonight is a quilted table runner. I found a very cute tutorial on this blog for a mod log cabin runner. It is adorable. I will be using the fabric scraps from my chairs to make a coordinating runner. I can't wait to post pictures of my finished dining room. Well, that is if it ever is considered finished!
